Gareth Ainsworth will perform a short set of Christmas songs at a special event in Wokingham on Thursday evening, helping to raise funds for The Ollie Young Foundation.
Taking place at 6pm at The Redan bar on Peach Street, the Chairboys manager will be joined on stage by two fellow parents of children who lived close to Ollie, who lost his battle against an incurable brain tumour a day before his sixth birthday in 2012.
The gig forms part of the Wokingham Living Advent Calendar, a series of events across the area throughout December, each raising awareness and funds for a number of local charitable causes.
Admission is free to all though guests are encouraged to make a donation to The Ollie Young Foundation on arrival.
Ainsworth said: “Being a football manager doesn’t leave much time for me to get on stage these days but as soon as the opportunity arose to help The Ollie Young Foundation, I said yes straightaway.
“Ollie played at the same football club as my son – Finchampstead FC – and his death sent a real shock through the community. What his family had to go through was every parent’s worst nightmare and Ollie will be in our thoughts as we sing a few Christmas classics on Thursday night.
“Hopefully we can get the place full and rocking and raise a good sum of money to help the Foundation. The Wokingham Living Advent Calendar is a great tradition each year and brings people together to get in the festive spirit, all for a good cause, so it’ll be nice to see a mix of local people and hopefully some Wycombe fans there too.”
