A LOCAL charity set up to honour the life of a Wokingham youngster has donated a stunning £15,000 to help fix a bath.

Sarah Simpson from the Ollie Young Foundation visited Helen and Douglas House last week to present the cheque which will help the hospice as it seeks to assist terminally ill children.

The money will see a broken bath be replaced with one that includes a jacuzzi setting with internal lights.

Ms Simpson said: “This would be really relaxing and therapeutic for the youngsters and many children with disabilities only have showers at home and know that they would really benefit from the immersive experience of bathing.

“This is so fitting as we know from our own experience that Ollie was at his happiest in Helen and Douglas House when he was in some kind of water and he thoroughly enjoyed ‘bath time’ with his mission of making sure everyone around him got soaked.

“It is one of the many happy memories we have of him just having fun, laughing and joking around and for that small moment forgetting why he was there.”

Ms Simpson and her family are tireless fundraisers for the charity, and recently organised a fun day in Cantley Park. They are also regulars at events such as Wokingham’s Winter Carnival and the May Fayre.
