We’re back! Join us for our annual Summer Fun Day – a fun-packed day for the whole family, featuring games, a raffle, face painting, stalls, refreshments, a licensed bar, and a BBQ.
School’s out and the summer holidays are here – yippee! At the Ollie Young Foundation (OYF), this is one of our favourite times of year, as we get to share our ever-popular Summer Fun Day with you.
If you’re free on Sunday 9th August, 11am – 4pm, we’ve got the perfect day out for you, your family, and your friends.
Our fun day is all about bringing the community together – enjoying great activities, soaking up the atmosphere, and creating happy memories. And, of course, raising vital funds to help us continue our mission, in Ollie’s name, to find a cure or prevention for brain tumours in children.
Many of you will know Ollie’s story. Within just 10 days of showing signs that something wasn’t right. After three visits to the doctor and telling us, “I have a dizzy head,” Ollie lost the ability to walk. Just 12 weeks later, the day before his 6th birthday, Ollie passed away peacefully at Helen & Douglas House Children’s Hospice.
Since then, OYF has been dedicated to funding research into brain tumours in children. Thanks to your incredible support, we’ve been able to secure years of funding for vital research and support. We are truly grateful.
Each year, we bring something new to keep the day fresh and exciting. This year you can enjoy new games, a live band, and a wide range of stalls run by our amazing volunteers – the ‘Olliettes’. Every penny spent at these stalls goes directly to supporting the charity.
We’ll be using our token system again this year – available from the OYF stall on the day. Tokens can be used at all OYF-run stalls, including the raffle, bar, cakes, and BBQ. Many external stallholders will also accept tokens – just look out for the sign.
There’s plenty to keep all ages entertained, including:
Face painting
Cheeky seaside-themed photo board (don’t forget to share your pictures!)
Inflatables
Circus skills
An aerialist performance
Free kids’ play area (conveniently located near the bar!)
And maybe even a special guest from a galaxy far, far away…
Food-wise, we’ve got plenty to tempt you – from our OYF BBQ (with all profits going to the foundation), to an authentic Italian food truck, plus delicious homemade cakes.
If you fancy a bit of shopping, you’ll find a fantastic selection of local makers and sellers offering everything from personalised gifts to handmade crafts and jewellery. Check out our Facebook event page for the full list of stallholders.
Our raffle will feature an impressive range of prizes – definitely one not to miss!
We’re also delighted to have DJ Jason Lewis back again, keeping the energy high with great music throughout the day. There may even be a chance for some audience participation! (And yes – we’ve ordered the sunshine too.)
