When the foundation was first set up it was our aim to fund research into paediatric brain tumours.
Fast forward 7 years and we have funded not one but three PhD students at Portsmouth’s Cellular & Molecular Neuro-Oncology Research Group – that’s 9 years of targeted research funded by you lovely lot!!
Alison, our second funded student, started her PhD back in Feb 2016 and has worked her socks off ever since to help us in our ultimate aim.
Last week Alison, and her supervisor Richard, met with her external examiner Prof. Chris Jones @ICR and passed her viva!!! 🎉
Alison says: “I would like to express my sincerest thanks to you, your family and everyone involved in fundraising. Your drive and dedication has been a continual source of inspiration to me over the past few years. Without your generous support this project would not have been possible and I cannot thank you enough. It’s impossible to express my gratitude to you and the OYF. The PhD has, without a doubt, changed my life and I am now focused on a research career towards a better outcome for children with high grade glioma.”
HUGE congratulations to you Dr Howarth! 🙂 we are all very very proud of you. Well done and thank you 💙
