    RUDS are just awesome!! For the past six years running they have supported the OYF by raising funds through their a...nnual 24hr musical and this year they’re doing it all over again! All in aid of OYF 💙
    If you haven’t been to one of their shows yet, it’s a must see! The show will be revealed to cast members just 24hrs prior to it going live to an audience. They then have just 24hrs to rehearse, learn songs and lines, choreograph the whole thing, sort costumes and set the stage!! Oh...and maybe catch a few hours sleep too!
    It’s just incredible what they can achieve and it’s just brilliant to watch!

    Our next act for Woky Comedy Night is.... Naomi Cooper!

    As a comedian Naomi has performed across the UK, from Plymouth to Edinburgh and Belfast, and has also ...gigged in the Netherlands, Hungary, Austria, Romania, Switzerland, Ireland and America.

    Naomi was the first female finalist of C Venue's Improvaganza at the Edinburgh Festival in 2009. She is a founding company member of improv troupe ImproBabble who had a residency with the Leicester Square Theatre from 2010 through to the end of 2012.

    She is a regular on the UK stand-up circuit and presented her first solo show That's Probably Enough at the Leicester Square Theatre in July 2014.

    Her second solo show Kerfuffle appeared at the Leicester Square Theatre in February 2016 and at the Leicester Comedy Festival in February 2017.

    In December 2017, Naomi opened for Jeff Garlin for the entirety of his sold-out extended run at the Soho Theatre.

    In 2018 Naomi performed at the Utrecht International Comedy Festival in Holland and was part of Just the Tonic's Big Value showcase at the Edinburgh Festival. In October she opened for Jeff Garlin at the Improv in Hollywood and the Laugh Factory in Long Beach, California.

    She is currently working on her debut hour, Bitch You Don't Even Naomi, which will be at the Leicester Comedy Festival in 2019.

    Last Saturday we were invited along to Seven Lakes Fishery Family Fun Day over in Aldermaston.
    We had such a great day and the atmosphere was lovely. Loved meeting lots of new families and putting smiles on children’s faces playing our teddy tombola - we raised over £174!
    We love spreading the OYF word further afield as it’s vital that we raise awareness of what we do and continue our aim of funding research into paediatric brain tumours to find a cure or prevention.
    Huge ma...ssive thanks go to Roy, Trina and team for putting on a great event and also choosing the OYF as one of their charities to support on the day and to receive £163 which was raised from their raffle.

    A big congratulations to all our Raffle Prize winners who helped us raise £163.24 for our favourite charity Ollie Young Foundation.
    A charity very close to our... hearts, as Ollie was our Fishery Manager’s nephew who passed away just 3 months after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour, just a day before his 6th birthday.
    So thank you everyone from us and the Ollie Young Foundation.
    If you still have a prize to collect, our office will Be Open again from 9am on Tuesday morning.

    The Holt school put the icing on the cake a few weeks ago and held a non uniform day along with a cake sale for #feblueary and raised an incredible £1,100!

    Four teams will compete to see which can cover their share of the full marathon distance in the shortest time. From the oche to the board and back 2,227 times with only the occasional pause for 'refres...hment'!

    This event will take place today from 10am to 10pm at the Winnersh British Legion and we're thrilled that they are supporting OYF with their fundraising.

    When the foundation was first set up it was our aim to find research into paediatric brain tumours.
    Fast forward 7 years and we have funded not one but three PhD students at Portsmouth’s Cellular & Molecular a Neuro-Oncology Research Group - that’s 9 years of targeted research funded by you lovely lot!!

    Alison, our second funded student, started her PhD back in Feb 2016 and has worked her socks off ever since to help us in our ultimate aim.
    Last week Alison, and her supervis...or Richard, met with her external examiner Prof. Chris Jones @ICR and passed her viva!!! 🎉

    Alison says: “I would like to express my sincerest thanks to you, your family and everyone involved in fundraising. Your drive and dedication has been a continual source of inspiration to me over the past few years. Without your generous support this project would not have been possible and I cannot thank you enough. It’s impossible to express my gratitude to you and the OYF. The PhD has, without a doubt, changed my life and I am now focused on a research career towards a better outcome for children with high grade glioma.”

    HUGE congratulations to you Dr Howarth! 🙂 we are all very very proud of you. Well done and thank you 💙

    Wild Acres Care Home - Wokingham

    Today we had our newly named 'Helping Hands' monthly session, where we will take part, support or help a good cause. This month was a local charity, The Ollie Y...oung Foundation who raise money to fund research in to brain tumours in children. Ollie was 5 when he was diagnosed with a brain tumour and sadly died 12 weeks later on the eve of his 6th birthday. He was both born and passed away in February, which as his favourite colour was blue and has been adopted by the charity is now known to his family, friends and supporters of the OYF as Fe'blue'ary - our delicious iced cupcakes are in support of this great local good cause.

    Last night of the Living Advent Calendar and we are going out with Multi Instrumentalist Pauly Zarb. Ship Inn 6pm be there for an awesome night.

    Pauly, origina...lly from Australia, has performed music since the age of 4. His dream to play music at a young age on an international scene became reality and he found himself living in Kentucky, USA touring the nation with his music. He has written many songs that have been played on Radio and he has performed in theatres, festivals and many concert venues. He has opened shows for legends such as Tommy Emmanuel, Willie Nelson, Keith Urban and Little Feat. He resides in Wokingham now and has become a local musician still with big aspiration's to inspire people with music.

    7 years ago today, 21st November 2011.
    Little did we know that our lives were about to change forever.

    Over the next 13 weeks we would see our little Ollie, who was just 5 years old, put up the bravest fight of his life.
    He passed away, smiling, the day before his 6th birthday, 26th February 2012.

    Just over a week ago we attended Trunkwell House’ 10th Christmas Fair 🎄and we had an amazing weekend.
    We loved seeing so many new faces and being able to share what OYF is all about.
    We’d like to say a huge thank you for all your donated gifts that made our tombola so much fun and looking full and fabulous.
    Massive thanks goes to all our ‘Olliettes’ for helping too - without you these events wouldn’t happen!
    And extra massive thanks go to everyone who came along to the st...all and had a go. All in all you all helped us raise a fabulous £587.30

    Although the sun shone it was the coldest we have been at Mortimer since we started back in 2012! Luckily that didn’t stop the sales of our gorgeous cakes ( in fact it probably helped?) and we ended up raising a fab £182!
    Thank you so much to all the runners, walkers, their families and friends and the organisers for welcoming us back for another great event! And of course a huge thank you to our beautiful volunteers / committee 💙

    Our friends at Reading Road Runners will be hosting their ever popular annual Mortimer 10K & 3K run along with an 8km charity walk and a 3km junior race on Sunday 30th September.
