Ollie’s illness took everyone by surprise and being given the news that he had ‘only 2 weeks to live’ was just unimaginable.
Within a matter of days Ollie’s health deteriorated quickly and we were constantly by his side focusing solely on him and his brother, Alfie. Nothing else mattered.
At the John Radcliffe hospital we were introduced to Gemma from Clic Sargent, who reached out to us and offered us financial help. Totally preoccupied with life inside the hospital over the next 12 weeks, we didn’t even contemplate how day-to-day bills would be paid. Clic Sargent took all financial worries away from us helping towards food, petrol and household bills, leaving us to take care of our family.
Without Clic Sargents help, our last few months with Ollie could have been much worse, but instead we made some of the most incredible memories.
On top of the Research into Brain Tumours, the Ollie Young Foundation provides financial support to Clic Sargent to support other families.
In 2020, OYF provided £10,500 to Clic Sargent to ease the pressure off families who are caring for their poorly children. Because at that moment in time, nothing else should matter but your child! This money will go towards immediate needs aka ‘exceptional’ grants for things like heating, travel, clothing etc. It will also help approx. 10 families to stay at Clic Court for an average of 20 days giving them a ‘home from home‘ feel and some sort of normality whilst they deal with their life changing situation.
In 2017, OYF provided £3,000 funding to refurbish one of Clic’s home-from-homes family bathrooms
In 2014, OYF donated £4,000 to Clic Sargent to fund a much needed refresh to their home-from-home in Oxfordshire.
